On top of being the spookiest time of the year, October also happens to be one of the most exciting for locals who love Halloween. From small house parties to massive outdoor events, this month is jam-packed with some of the best activities in which to get your creep on. Here are some of the top activities for adults and kids alike that take place during October in Tampa Bay.

Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has two fun events to celebrate Halloween in October. Howl-O-Scream is a scary event geared toward adults, with lots of live entertainment, haunted houses, and fun alcoholic beverages. It requires a separate event ticket to attend, which you can buy in advance on the theme park’s website. The event takes place on specific nights

New this year is Busch Gardens Spooktacular, which is a family-friendly event that is scheduled each weekend day from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Kids can go trick or treating, participate in themed scavenger hunts, and participate in fun outdoor dance parties. There are plenty of Halloween-themed photo opportunities throughout the park. The special event is included with admission, including annual passes.

Lighted Halloween Boat Parade

The 3rd Annual Lighted Halloween Boat Parade is scheduled for Saturday, October 29th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Downtown Tampa. It is hosted by the Friends of the Riverwalk and the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. You can watch the decorated boats travel along the Hillsborough River. All boats must register in advance to participate in the parade. There are awards for the top “Best Decorated Boat”.

Tampa Bay Moms Group Trunk or Treat

Tampa Bay Moms Group is hosting its annual Trunk or Treat event on October 30th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Westshore Plaza, on the top floor of the JCPenney Parking Garage. Kids can dress up and go car to car to get candy. While the event is free to attend, attendees must pre-register and bring candy with them to pass out to other families.

Drive-Thru Boo at the Oldsmar Sports Complex

The Oldsmar Sports Complex will host its annual Haunted Happenings Drive-Thru BOO! event on Friday, October 28 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can drive your car through haunted scenes and displays, while listening to fun Halloween music. The event is free. If you plan to attend, enter through the Curlew Road entrance. It is a popular activity, so be patient while waiting in line.

The greater Tampa Bay area is an awesome place to spend Halloween, with dozens of free or low-cost Halloween events to choose from. It is no wonder that so many people want to move to Tampa to enjoy what the city has to offer.
